711 Human Performance Wing/Research Human Effectiveness Directed Energy Optical Opportunities -- Opportunities in applied computer science, numerical analysis, and computational physics. Integration of multiple analysis models and computational tools for assessment of coupled laser bioeffects and atmospheric propagation. Internship will examine multi-physics methods to couple calculations and analysis techniques. Students will learn about multiple approaches in established atmospheric models and will build a working knowledge of simulations of laser-tissue interactions. -- Opportunities in experimental laser bioeffects and instrumentation. Internship will include participation in studies of cellular and molecular-level interactions of laser energy with cells and surrogate tissues. Students will build a working knowledge of various aspects of optical-thermal interactions, photochemistry, and electro-optic instrumentation (thermal imagery, dosimetry, microscopy, fluorescent assays) and the methods for numerical simulation of effects.
