DIRECTED ENERGY PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY

Directed Energy Modeling & Simulation Conference 2004
9-11 March 2004 Huntsville, Alabama

The modeling and simulation (M&S) of Directed Energy (DE) phenomena, devices, systems, and engagements is expanding in importance as DE systems are being developed and acquired. This is especially true now that several DE systems are entering the formal development and acquisition process. The heavy dependence upon M&S throughout the lifecycle of modern systems makes M&S critical to acquisition success.

This year’s conference focused on the role of M&S relative to the entry of several DE systems into the formal development process. This included the impact of the changes to the acquisition process and to M&S as applied to spiral development. The scope of the conference encompassed:

  • high energy laser (HEL) and high power microwaves (HPM)
  • virtual and constructive M&S
  • all levels of detail from basic physics and engineering through campaign levels
  • unclassified and classified topics
  • government, academic, and industry viewpoints
  • M&S technology and techniques, such as VV&A, distributed simulation methodology

Conference Highlights

  • Classified, limited distribution, and open technical sessions
  • Short Courses
  • Tuesday evening reception
  • Government, academic, and industry exhibit booths
  • Breakfast, lunch, and break refreshments
  • Unclassified proceedings published after the Conference

Proceedings from this 2004 DE M&S Conference are available for purchase from the DEPS online store.
