The Directed Energy (DE) Programs and Capabilities Conference will focus on the DE Shield concept and will facilitate a detailed discussion of DE technologies to support an Integrated Unit Base and Installation capability for our forces. Co-sponsors of this year's event include ATL/DDR&E and Northrop Grumman.

The discussions will include

  • Intelligence review of foreign DE capabilities
  • Overview of service specific DE force protection programs and projects
  • Overview of Integrated Unit Base and Installation Protection (IUBIP) requirements
  • Panel discussions on the way forward for government and industry
  • Review of areas for industry and government collaboration to support DE technology development and IUBIP deployment

Bottom line: The emphasis will be on mission accomplishment, system effectiveness, advanced development, demonstrations and fielding.

Agenda

The program will cover a day and a half. On the first day, a Flag/General Officer/SES/VP forum will review review programs and discuss action at the Senior Leadership perspective. The second day will be devoted to action officer discussions of current programs and the implementation of action items from the first day's forum. The program will be complete by noon, in time for most attendees to travel home that day.

Location & Accommodations

The sessions will be held in the Northrop Grumman facility at 12900 Federal Systems Park Drive, Fairfax, Virginia. This is about 30 minutes drive west of DC, at Exit 55 on I-66. See directions below.

A block of rooms at rates below local per diem has been reserved at the Hyatt Fair Lakes, 12777 Fair Lakes Circle, Fairfax, Virginia 22033. The hotel is also at Exit 55 on I-66. To make a reservation, call the hotel at 703 818-1234 and mention DEPS.

Directions from Virginia, Washington, or Maryland:
  • Take I-495 (Capitol Beltway) to I-66 West;
  • Take I-66 West to Exit 55B, (7100 Fairfax County Parkway) towards Reston/Herndon;
  • From Exit 55B, turn left at the first traffic light onto the Fair Lakes Parkway;
  • From Parkway, turn right at the second traffic light onto Fair Valley Drive;
  • From Fair Valley Drive, make an immediate left onto Federal Systems Park Drive (service road). There will be two parking lots ahead.
  • The Northrop-Grumman, Federal Park Bldg main entrance will be visible from the parking lot.
  • Continue around to the vacant IBM building as we are instructed to use their parking

Registration & Fees

The registration fees vary according to your affiliation as follows:

  • Military, $40
  • Government Civilians, Academics, $200
  • Contractors, $350

Registration is no longer possible for this event.

Recommended Attire

The recommended attire for the DE Programs and Capabilities Conference is Class B, Service Khaki, Blues with short sleeves for military personnel and business attire for civilians.
