The Directed Energy (DE) Systems Symposium focuses on systems aspects of DE in a limited-attendance environment.

The Systems Symposium consists of co-located technical sessions organized by five separate conferences, with joint
technical and plenary sessions to encourage discussion outside narrow technical limits. The purpose of this fourth annual
Symposium is
- to examine status of DE technologies to support transition to weapon acquisition,
- to understand employment opportunities and needs for DE technologies,
- to integrate the DE technology community with the warfighter to enable technology to warfighter transition and
- to provide a forum to enable technical exchange between the five conference technologies.
The DE Systems Symposium will further this purpose by focusing on the question: How will Directed Energy
(100kW class laser) change joint warfare? To implement this purpose and enhance the output, a two-plenary session
approach is being implemented. The symposium will be initiated with a plenary session on Tuesday morning with
invited speakers from both military operations and the acquisition communities. A wrap-up plenary session is
planned for Friday morning where each of the five conference chairmen will give the highpoints of their conference.
Some portions of the Symposium will be conducted at the SECRET level. Attendance at all sessions will be
limited to U.S. citizens with classified visit requests on file and who are employees of the U.S. Government
or its contractors.
