DIRECTED ENERGY PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY

Directed Energy Education Workshop 2008
21 November 2008 Honolulu, Hawaii

Education is vital to the Directed Energy community. Fostering the professional growth of current workers in the field and increasing the number of young, new members in the community are important DEPS educational goals. This was the eighth Workshop in a series of DE Education Workshops to advance these goals. The workshops consider current and future Directed Energy education programs around the country. Support for the Workshop is provided by the High Energy Laser Joint Technology Office and by DEPS.

The scope of the workshop included:

  • Programs from K-12 through graduate/post-graduate studies and technical vocational training
  • Professional continuing education
  • Student motivators (scholarships, fellowships, recognitions)
  • Summer internship programs
  • Curriculum development

The Workshop was held on Friday 21 November in the Waikiki Sheraton. It immediately followed the technical program of the Eleventh Annual Directed Energy Symposium, also held in Honolulu on 17-21 November 2008. The program began at 1000 and will included a working lunch for all participants.

The detailed program for the Education Workshop can be found at the end of the Symposium agenda.

Proceedings

Proceedings of the Workshop are included in the unclassified Symposium proceeding and are available for purchase through the DEPS online store.
