Education is vital to the Directed Energy community. Fostering the professional growth of current workers in the field and increasing the number of young, new members in the community are important DEPS educational goals. This will be the eighth Workshop in a series of DE Education Workshops to advance these goals. The workshops consider current and future Directed Energy education programs around the country. The Workshop will be held on Friday 21 November in the Waikiki Sheraton. It immediately follows the technical program of the Eleventh Annual Directed Energy Symposium, also held in Honolulu on 17-21 November 2008. The program will begin at noon with a working lunch for all participants. Call for Papers Contributed presentations are solicited for the workshop in the topics mentioned above and others related to the Workshop goals. Abstracts from interested speakers should be in the format of those for DE Symposium and sent via email to sam@deps.org or by mail to Directed Energy Professional SocietyThe deadline for submissions is 15 September 2008, and earlier submissions are encouraged. Authors will be notified no later than 1 October about the disposition of their abstract. Early submissions will be notified earlier. Proceedings Proceedings of the Workshop will be included in the unclassified Symposium proceedings. The proceedings of prior workshops are available here. Registration & Fees There is no fee associated with the Education Workshop, however to better plan for the workshop, we ask that you complete this registration form. Note: if you plan to attend the Annual DE Symposium also, you do not need to use this form. Instead, use the Symposium Registration Form and simply note your intent to attend the workshop.
