Phased Array Radar, the new HPM Beam Director
There is little radio frequency (RF) difference between radar and directed energy devices. Passive phased array RF technology may offer an effective means of producing a high power directed energy device. Combining radar and directed energy functions into a single system may also be possible. This paper will review state of the art high power phase shifters and areas currently being investigated to increase these capabilities while also decreasing insertion loss. Investigating modified phase shifter designs may increase component power handling significantly.
