A Digital Signal Processing Approach for Leveraging the Navy Atmospheric Vertical Surface Layer Model.
Sensor-driven optical models can provide localized characterizations of the atmosphere useful for supplementing spatially-coarse datasets stemming from Numerical Weather Prediction simulations. This work aims to analyze the impact of digital signal processing methods on Cn2 values derived from the Navy Atmospheric Vertical Surface Layer Model (NAVSLaM) in the context of High-Energy Laser beam propagation metrics. We identify critical events where small perturbations in the input space correspond to significant differences in predicted Cn2 with added discussions on improving model confidence.
