Laser Weapons Demonstrated for Ground-Base Defense Layer
Laser Weapon Systems for Ground-Base Defense were integrated into a Command and Control (C2) network and demonstrated against drones in an integrated defense layer. Air Force Research Laboratory personnel, along with an Air Force Test Group, provided operational support for the laser weapon systems during a joint experimentation event. The laser weapon systems were integrated with a C2 system linked to multiple radars and passive frequency detection systems. AFRL operators where integral to the demonstration of the full kill chain: detection, tracking, identification, and engagement. This event demonstrated the effectiveness and integration of existing laser weapon systems into a combined ground-based layer for enduring terminal defense.
