Improved Drive Electronics for Adaptive Optics and Beam Control Systems
Adaptive optics and beam control system drive electronics require a wide range of capabilities for controls processing, sensing, actuator drive circuits, and communications, while adhering to size, weight, and power constraints. These electronic systems also need to have built-in testing capabilities to minimize the risk of damaging their corresponding actuated devices (FSMs or DMs typically) and provide feedback to the system on their readiness for operation. We have advanced the state-of-the-art in adaptive optics drive electronics to provide greater extensibility, modularity, communication speed, and sensing for overall health of the system to assist systems integrators in successfully bringing to bear an adaptive optics and beam control system. We have added new updates to the drive electronics allowing for flexibility in size, power requirements, processing speed, health/status communications, and driver power to fit the needs of an individual project.
