Preliminary results for MISFT – MIcrowave Source with Frequency Tuning
Growing interest for RF testing for blue and red threats calls for frequency tunable sources at high powers. Verus Research has designed and built a frequency agile High Power Microwave system called MISFT as a part of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract. MISFT is packaged into a 6x5x3 ft (90cu.ft) and weighs under 1200 lb. Simulation results showed the frequency tuning capability over 50% of X-band (7-10 GHz) at powers over 50 MW for all operating frequencies at min rep-rate of 50 Hz. The following presentation will demonstrate system overview, list subsystems and preliminary experimental results for MISFT operating at different frequencies.
