Call for Papers

Contributions are solicited for presentations at the first Directed Energy Effects Mitigation Conference. Technical sessions will be organized around the mitigation of HEL and HPM effects on critical U.S. infrastructure, military systems and personnel. Items of interest include but are not limited to novel ways to mitigate through shielding, filtering, software, active protection, reflection, coatings, EO/IR systems, disruption of beam steering and personnel protection.

Abstracts are due 26 October 2007 for consideration in the DE Effects Mitigation Conference. Abstracts should include: paper title, description of the paper (250-word maximum), authors' names/organizations, lead author contact information (telephone, email, and fax), expected classification of the presentation and paper as well as the expected distribution restrictions. Presentations may be proposed up to and including the secret level. Unclassified abstracts should be submitted in electronic form, preferably by email, to Effects@deps.org. They may also be submitted in Microsoft Word or pdf on electronic media via U.S. Postal service. For instructions on submitting classified abstracts, contact Stephanie Miller at Stephanie.Miller@brooks.af.mil.

Although they will be accepted as late as 16 November, early submittals will be given special consideration. Authors will be notified on or before 30 November 2007 of acceptance of their paper for presentation and/or publication. Authors of papers selected for presentation will be notified about the procedures for submission.
