Over one thousand members of the directed energy (DE) community have become DEPS members. They represent government, industrial, and academic communities and share a professional interest in the many facets of Directed Energy. DEPS membership offers tangible benefits. In addition to providing opportunities for professional development through publishing, presentations, and short courses, members will receive discounts at many DEPS events, including the Annual Directed Energy Symposium, the premier forum for exchange of DE information. Membership in DEPS is open to anyone with
professional or educational interests in Directed Energy. DEPS meetings such as the Annual Directed Energy Symposium,
the Directed Energy Test and Evaluation Conference, and
the Solid State and Diode Laser Technology Review generally have sessions at most times that are completely open to any member.
In addition, such meetings have publicly available proceedings that are distributed to all attendees.
However, DEPS membership does not
guarantee access to all DEPS events, event sessions, and publications. DEPS events or event sessions may be restricted to U.S. citizens
or to U.S. government employees or contractors. Some DEPS events or event sessions are classified and attendance
restricted to holders of Secret security clearances and a need to know the information being
presented and discussed. The restrictions on attendance are always made explicit in the
announcements for the event. The distribution of DEPS publications may also include restrictions similar to those on events.
These restrictions should be considered before joining DEPS.
