The Journal of Directed Energy is a peer-reviewed publication of the Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS). It addresses the many aspects of fully engineered directed energy (DE) systems and advances the DEPS vision of becoming the premier institution for the exchange of DE information. The Journal is distinguished by its focus on the emerging DE scientific, engineering, and system issues, and by its willingness to publish classified papers. Its publication is made possible by grants from the Joint DE Transition Office and by funding from DEPS.

Scope
The Journal of Directed Energy solicits and publishes both classified and unclassified papers in all aspects of DE. The scope of our interests includes but is not limited to topics such as the following:

- Acquisition, tracking, and pointing

The Journal of Directed Energy publishes only unclassified, public release papers. The Journal of Directed Energy (Limited Edition) publishes classified papers.
Distribution
The Journal of Directed Energy initially published only print copies of each issue. Within the last two years, the Journal has migrated online. Although the options of receiving a print subscription or purchasing a past print issue still exist, most readers access the Journal online. Each new issue is typically available online four to six weeks before the print issue arrives in mailboxes. For those issues published within the last ten years, only the titles, authors, and abstracts are available online to the general public, while DEPS members and subscribers can view electronic copies of the papers. Older papers are available to everyone.
One online feature that greatly increases the speed of paper distribution is the Current Papers page. Papers that have completed the review and editing process are posted immediately, so they are available to readers before enough papers are collected to fill a Journal issue. This results in a time savings which may be over half a year.
